Job description

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager, AI Design Automation to lead a new strategic product initiative focused on driving civil engineering design efficiency using AI.

This is not a traditional desk-based product role. You will be embedded with our Los Angeles civil design team, working side-by-side with designers and engineers to turn repetitive, manual, expert-heavy design workflows (around Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, ACC, and related systems) into scalable, AI-assisted automation products. You will own the end-to-end product lifecycle, connecting roadmap decisions directly to delivery efficiency, project economics, and user adoption.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the AI Design Automation Product: Lead the vision, strategy, roadmap, and execution for AI-powered design efficiency tools. Translate complex engineering workflows into clear PRDs, user stories, and phased delivery plans.
  • Embed with Design Teams: Work day-to-day with the LA design team to observe real workflows in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and MicroStation. Turn expert judgment and informal processes into structured, repeatable product capabilities.
  • Build AI-Assisted Workflows: Guide the creation of AI wrappers, agents, and automations around existing Autodesk/Bentley ecosystems. Partner with R&D, software engineering, and BIM/CAD experts to define human-in-the-loop review processes that ensure safety and quality.
  • Drive Implementation & Adoption: Lead pilot projects from workflow selection through launch, creating onboarding playbooks and training documentation to standardize best practices across design teams.
  • Measure Business Impact: Define baseline metrics (design hours, review cycles, error rates) and track efficiency gains, capacity built, and project economics to communicate progress clearly to executive leadership.

Requirements

5+ years of total professional experience, including:

  • 3+ years in a Product Management role (owning roadmaps, requirements, and shipping software).
  • 2+ years in civil engineering design, design automation, or BIM/CAD management.
  • Hands-on experience with civil infrastructure workflows (roadway, utilities, drainage, site civil, or plan production) and a deep understanding of how civil designers work (files, standards, QA/QC).
  • Strong familiarity with modern AI tools and concepts (LLMs, prompts, agents, or copilots).
  • Proven ability to translate ambiguous workflows into technical requirements, working effectively with AI/ML teams, software engineers, and business leaders.
  • Location: Must be based in Los Angeles.

Technical Familiarity:

  • Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, ACC / Bentley OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation.
  • Dynamo, Python, scripts, macros, or automation workflows.

Big Plus:

  • Direct hands-on experience with Civil 3D; Civil engineering degree, EIT, or PE license.
  • Experience deploying AI agents, RAG systems, or LLM-powered workflow tools.
  • Experience working with LA-area agencies, local utilities, and regional design manuals.
  • Background in a fast-moving startup environment.

Salary range: $185,000 – $210,000
