Forge & Build is Hiring a Store Project Manager

Forge & Build is looking for an experienced Store Project Manager to join our Forge & Build team in the Columbia,MO area – specifically an individual with experience or the ability to execute store merchandising projects.

This position lives within our Forge & Build team and will report to the Division Manager. You will work closely with our store leaders, vendors, merchandising, and logistics teams..

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage the merchandising process during new store openings with specific focus on (unloading trucks, unboxing product, stocking shelves, setting product to Plano-O-Guides, etc.)
  • Managing Special Projects as assigned (merchandise remodels, department resets, fixture remodels, etc.)
  • Review items to ensure that the best program is in place in the stores
  • Work with stores and vendors to review and implement programs at store level
  • Collectively managing short-term temporary workers each day during the new store merchandising process as well as store employees to achieve daily goals
  • Training the store staff on current stocking/merchandising standards as well as implementing best practices and procedures.
  • Assist in developing merchandise department flow plans for stores
  • Identifying, creating and implementing methodologies; working to continually improve current processes and practices
  • Quickly developing strong working relationships with vendors, field teams and short-term temporary workers to ensure delivery of the best possible experience to customers.
  • Effectively communicate any issues, delays, or concerns to ensure productive execution of all merchandising projects
  • Conducting weekly analysis to monitor returns, identifying the root causes of concern and improvement areas
  • Working with vendors, merchandising, logistics and yard managers to decrease invalid/obsolete/unauthorized orders, returns, and freight expenses
  • Acting as the quarterback for yard managers participating in the category, reset, and promotional planning meetings to provide data and insights
  • Leading the team that sets up and updating of item files on the CRM, submitting required data files (e.g., price changes, new items)
  • Identifying potential issues (e.g., out-of-stock rates) and improvement areas; taking actions to address such areas collaborating internally
  • Proactively communicating any issues to managers and informing them of the action plan; regularly providing them with updates until the issue is resolved

the store.

Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience with planograms, floor plans and reading CAD drawings is required
  • Four-year college degree preferred
  • At least 3-5 years Management/Leadership experience or equivalent
  • Experience with hardware and building products in a retail environment
  • Extensive hardline and building materials product knowledge
  • Solid understanding and experience with in-store merchandising and marketing strategies
  • Ability to manage projects to ensure accurate and on time completion while working within a given budget
  • Ability to lead, train, direct, motivate and manage others
  • Intermediate skills in with Excel or Google Sheets
  • Organization and planning skills
  • Team-building skills
  • Ability to comprehend, execute, and enforce company programs, policies and procedures
  • Ability to travel a minimum 60% of the time and work weekends as needed
  • Availability for some overnight travel as necessary
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with supervisors and subordinates verbally and in writing
  • High energy and a high sense of urgency
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Desire and ability to quickly learn other analytical tools and systems
