👷🏻‍♀️ What we do 👷🏻‍♀️

At Emidat, we are building the first climate-native product management system for building material manufacturers. We aim to decarbonise building materials, making up 11% of global GHG emissions. We collect data from physical production processes, generate a digital product passport with verified environmental data and make it usable along the value chain. In short: One solution to assess, design, buy, sell and manage products - with environmental impact at the core.

With this, we are building the digital infrastructure to make it faster, easier, and more sustainable to build the world around us.

What you will work on

Your mission

Build and own the infrastructure backbone: from a fast-moving multi-tenant AWS core to edge deployments in customer VPCs, on-prem environments, and integrations with legacy enterprise systems. You'll design for today's 7-engineer team and tomorrow's scale, while ensuring that the digital and environmental product data we host remain reliably accessible. Not just for years, but for the lifetime of the buildings they're embedded in.

In the first 6 months, you will

  • Harden the AWS foundation: audit and improve our multi-tenant architecture, CI/CD pipelines, observability stack, and deployment reliability to production-grade standards.

  • Build the operational backbone: We're a small team shipping production infrastructure for digital product data that need to remain accessible for decades. You'll introduce the incident management, on-call, and automated remediation practices that let us credibly commit to that, status pages, alert pipelines, runbooks, and the culture around them.

  • Improve the VPC/on-prem deployment model: design a repeatable, maintainable pattern for customer-hosted deployments that scales beyond the first live case without becoming a custom snowflake each time.

  • Build the enterprise integration layer: establish secure, reliable connectivity patterns for integrating with the legacy ERP, procurement, and compliance systems that our customers run.

  • Architect for permanence: design the digital product passport hosting platform with extreme longevity in mind: stable URLs, data integrity guarantees, and an operational model that can sustain 99.99% uptime across decades (think lifetime of buildings).

Our Tech Stack:

  • Languages: Python, TypeScript

  • Backend: FastAPI, gRPC

  • Frontend: React

  • Databases: PostgreSQL, Redis

  • Infrastructure & DevOps: Kubernetes, OpenTofu, OTel, AWS, Azure

  • CI/CD & Automation: GitHub Actions, Docker, FluxCD

  • Product Delivery: Linear

What you should bring to this role

Minimum requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, running and optimising multi-tenant cloud infrastructure to ensure secure, segregated customer environments.

  • Strong proficiency in one or more high-level programming languages (e.g., Python, TypeScript, Go, or Rust)

  • Expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), with demonstrable experience using OpenTofu or Terraform to manage cloud and hybrid resources at scale, ensuring fully reproducible and auditable infrastructure.

  • Track record of designing, implementing, and maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, FluxCD) to enable frequent, reliable, and automated deployments to both cloud-native and customer-hosted VPC/on-prem environments.

  • Direct experience establishing secure, reliable connectivity patterns for integrating with manufacturing enterprise systems (e.g., ERPs, legacy APIs), specifically focusing on automated data synchronisation.

  • Deep, hands-on fluency in Linux administration, network fundamentals, and cloud security hardening, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and secure production infrastructure.

Nice to have’s

  • Experienced in end-to-end implementation and lifecycle management of ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 frameworks, including designing technical controls, and ensuring the continuous operating effectiveness required for successful annual audit certifications.

  • Background in regulated industries (construction, manufacturing, compliance-heavy SaaS)
